Guidelines for Presenters

The room will be fully equipped with laptop and projector.
Presenters are asked to bring their presentation on a USB in PowerPoint or PDF format. You will need to transfer your file to the computer prior to the start of the session.

We are unable to accept presentations on personal laptops given the technical complication of the equipment.

Open Paper Presenters

Speakers are asked to present for 20 minutes and allow 10 minutes for questions/discussion, making each paper
presentation a maximum of 30 minutes. Please consider this when preparing your slides.

How to Prepare Your 90-Second Pre-recorded Poster Presentation

At the AEA-Europe 2026 Conference, poster presenters are required to prepare a pre-recorded oral presentation of no more than 90 seconds to introduce their research and encourage conference delegates to visit their physical poster during the conference.

There will be no live oral poster presentations during the conference. Instead, all pre-recorded presentations will be made available through the conference app in advance, allowing delegates to familiarise themselves with the research and identify posters they would like to discuss with the presenters.

Your presentation should aim to capture the interest of delegates rather than explain every aspect of your research. We recommend structuring your presentation around three key elements:

  • The Hook: Begin with a short, engaging statement or question that introduces your research topic and highlights its importance.
  • The Introduction: Briefly introduce yourself, your research team (if applicable), and your role in the work.
  • The Appetizer: Explain the central research question, problem, or key finding, and why it is relevant to attendees of the AEA-Europe Conference.

Remember that you have a maximum of 90 seconds. Focus on delivering a clear, concise and engaging presentation that encourages delegates to learn more about your work.

We recommend preparing a short script and rehearsing your presentation before recording.

Format of the Poster Session

The Poster Session at AEA-Europe 2026 will follow a revised format, designed to provide more opportunities for meaningful discussions between poster presenters and conference delegates.

Instead of holding a plenary session with individual oral presentations, the time previously allocated to these presentations will now be dedicated to direct interaction between delegates and poster presenters.

All presenters are expected to be available beside their physical posters during the designated Poster Session to discuss their research and answer questions.

Presenters are also encouraged to spend time at their posters throughout the conference, including during dedicated coffee breaks when delegates will be invited to view the posters and interact with their presenters.

Physical Poster Requirements

All accepted poster presenters are required to prepare a physical poster for display at the conference venue.

  • Poster size: A0 (84.1 cm wide × 118.9 cm high).

  • Orientation: Portrait.

  • Display: Posters will be mounted on boards.

  • Presenter attendance: Presenters must be available for discussions during the designated Poster Session.

Format and Submission of Pre-recorded Presentations

To allow delegates to view presentations in advance, all poster presenters are required to submit a pre-recorded oral presentation.

The submission deadline is Tuesday, 12 November 2026.

Recording Requirements

  • Maximum duration: 90 seconds.

  • Recommended format: MP4 video.

  • Recommended resolution: 1920 × 1080 pixels (Full HD), landscape orientation.

  • Audio: The recording must include clear and audible narration in English.

  • Visual content: Presenters may use their digital poster or presentation slides as visual support while providing their narration.

  • Recording quality: Ensure that text and images are legible and that the recording is free from distracting background noise.

The recordings will be uploaded to the conference app and made available to delegates in advance of the conference.

Further details regarding the submission method will be communicated directly to accepted poster presenters.

Poster Award and Voting Procedure

The AEA-Europe Poster Award is sponsored by Cito and consists of a one-day, all-expenses-paid visit to Citolab, Cito’s research division.

During this visit, the award winner will have the opportunity to discuss their research with educational measurement specialists at Citolab.

Researchers in the early stages of their careers are particularly encouraged to participate, as this visit offers a valuable opportunity for professional development and the exchange of research ideas.
